Subfloor Screw Down

Subfloor Screw Down

Quiet Floor's main service is screwing down subfloors of new homes to prevent squeaky floors. We screw down the subfloors wall-to-wall in every room, closets and landings. Quiet Floor only uses screws made for subfloor screw downs, never drywall screws. Whether you build with 2X10's, I-joists or open web trusses, they are all prone to squeaks if the subfloors are not screwed down. Quiet Floor returns after trim to screw down the stair treads at no extra cost.

Screw Down Wall Plates

Screw Down Wall Plates

Walls not secured to the floor can be a noise source as the floor deflected downward under a momentary load. We can identify the walls that are prone to causing a noise and screw the wall plate to the floor.

Remove Nails from I-Beam

Remove Nails from I-Beam

Nails left in contact with the I-Beams will cause noises. We bend the nails away or remove the nails to eliminate the possibility of a noise.

Tighten Bolts on I-Beams

Tighten Bolts on I-Beams

Bolts become loose on packed I-Beams and flitch plates during the construction process due to drying and shrinkage of lumber used in the assembly. These bolts need to be retightened just before drywall to avoid noise from movement.

About image
Quiet Floor is celebrating our 20th year in business in 2020.  Quiet Floor opened its doors for business in 2000 after it's founder, Ron Nyght, discovered that having the subfloors screwed down to prevent squeaky floors was not an option with builders.  Quiet Floor was the first business in the Kansas City metro to screw down subfloor for builders.  Demand soon outstripped time and Ron quit his day job in 2001 and went full time with Quiet Floor.  Quiet Floor screws down the subfloors for many builders in the Kansas City area.

Subfloors are screwed down after mechanicals are roughed in and floors are swept, but before insulation arrives.
By screwing down the subfloors of a newly built homes, Quiet Floor can prevent the squeaks that normally occur with subfloors that are glued and nailed only.  This greatly improves customer satisfaction and reduces costly warranty work, which in turn adds value for your homeowners and is a useful selling tool.
The warranty is 5 years from the date of the subfloor screw down.
Quiet Floor services nine counties in the Kansas City  Metro.
