WHY SCREW DOWN THE SUBFLOOR

 Whether you build with 2x10's, I-joists, or open web trusses, all are prone to noises if the subfloors are not screwed down. Nails used to secure the subfloor will fail over time causing the subfloor to separate from the floor joists. When pressure is applied the subfloor rubs against the nail shafts creating noise. In addition to preventing nuisance noise, screwing down subfloors can help prevent broken or loose tiles and cracked or loose grout.  

 By screwing down the subfloors, Quiet Floor can prevent the noises that normally occur with nailed or glued subfloors.  Nails left in contact with I-beams can cause noise under pressure. Quiet Floor will bend away or remove nails to prevent noise along your homes I-beams.  

 Bolts on I-beams that have loosened during the construction process can cause noise under pressure. Quiet Floor will retighten bolts to prevent noise along your homes I-beams.  

 Walls not secured to the subfloor can be a source of noise as the floor deflects downwards under a momentary load. Wall plates running perpendicular to the homes I-beams are included in the cost of screwing down the subfloor. Quiet Floor can also secure all interior wall plates or all wall plates. 

 Quiet Floor will return to the home after trim has been installed to screw down stair treads.
